Basic design of methanol distillation and off-gases purification unit for methanol production completed
The basic engineering of the methanol distillation and off-gases purification unit of the methanol production complex with the capacity of 1,0 mln tons per year (“ECH” group, “JOHNSON MATTHEY” production technology) that will be located in Skovorodino town in the Amur region has been completed. The feedstock for the Complex will be natural gas supplied via the “Power of Siberia” gas pipeline, which is in its final stage of construction.
The function of this unit will be the return to production of methanol, carried away with the breath of storage tanks, as well as purification of excess gases discharged into the atmosphere containing volatile hydrocarbon pollutants.
The unit consists of two columns (off-gas scrubber and methanol stripper) and an off-gases catalytic oxidation unit equipped with auxiliary systems and equipment. The unit operation algorithms and design developed by “ST” specialists will allow to cope with a wide variation of hydrocarbon content in the of-gas. The concentration of methanol solution returned to production after distillation is 60%.
