Media review of liquid radioactive waste treatment plant

In 2014 Russian national nuclear corporation ROSATOM was chosen by Japan as a partner in elimination of impact of the Fukusima accident.   Purification of tritium contaminated water came in the focus of attention and was covered by the Media:

«Cooperation between Russia and Japan on nuclear energy is actively developing. After the Fukushima accident cooperation between our two countries intensifies, and now we are considering the use of technologies involving help of Russian experts for overcoming the aftermath of this disaster,» said Junichi Eguchi, the Director for Nuclear Accident Response Office of the Electricity and Gas Industry Department at the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy.

Eguchi noted that the Japanese technologies were not sufficient in eliminating the aftermath of the disaster, and the country needed technical cooperation with various countries in this matter.

Safe Technologies IG is among the companies, who took part in the realization of such wide-scale environmentally important project for treating radioactive water at the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant. The company has developed a set of detailed engineering documentation. ST Industrial Group has designed and manufactured technological equipment for liquid radioactive waste treatment pilot plant.

Earlier the Gas Industry journal published an article «Possible solutions for treating considerable volumes of tritium contaminated effluents» , which describes the main stages of the process and the principles of liquid radioactive waste treatment. According to the customer’s requirements, the plant includes column equipment, with high-quality regular packing.

Some equipment is already commissioned and shipped to the site as scheduled. Now the ST company is finalizing construction and erection works.

The unit is to be installed at the beginning of 2016.
